Two killed in a Russian village after a local Ukrainian bombing says the local governor

(CNN) Two civilians were killed in a village in the Bryansk region of Russia Ukrainian bombingAccording to a local governor.

Alexander Bogomaz, the governor of Bryansk, said in a message on his Telegram channel early Sunday that the raid had “unfortunately killed civilians”.

He said that a residential building was completely destroyed and two other houses were partially damaged.

“The response teams continue to work at the site,” Bogumaz added.

The news comes amid warnings from Ukraine that it is nearing full preparations for the spring counter-offensive that many experts believe could represent pivotal moment in conflict.

Bogomaz blamed the Ukrainian armed forces for the attacks on Bryansk, which he said targeted residential buildings in the village of Suzymka in Syzymsky district.

Bryansk region shares borders to the south with Ukraine and to the west with Belarus.

A video posted on Bogomez’s Telegram channel shows people coming out of a destroyed building at night.

One person can be heard saying in the video, “They took out a woman. Still looking for a baby. I’m not sure. Awful.”

CNN has not independently verified the video.
