Two people died and two others were seriously injured in a head-on collision Saturday evening on Highway 50 between the towns of Lachute and Mirabel.
The accident happened around 6:30 pm on highway 50, near kilometer 267, near Chemin des sources.
According to preliminary information from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), one of the two vehicles veered off its lane and collided head-on.
One vehicle had a 37-year-old driver, a thirty-year-old female passenger and a child. All of them were seriously injured and taken to the hospital, but unfortunately the driver did not survive with his injuries. The woman and child are in critical condition.
The 74-year-old driver of the second vehicle also suffered significant injuries and died in hospital. She was alone in the car.
Police officers specializing in collision scene reconstruction were sent to the scene to better understand the causes and circumstances surrounding the accident.
Highway 50, Route 329 in Lachute and Route 148 in Mirabel are closed in both directions indefinitely.
