Given the approach of the season, one would think that his chosen path had already been chosen. Instead, Aiyuk continues to attend training sessions that he will not participate in.

General Manager John Lynch said on Friday, On KNBR He said he understood the “seriousness” of the matter, but declined to say whether Aiyuk would remain in San Francisco.

“You know, I’m not going to prescribe any chances or anything,” he said. “I can tell you this, it’s been a long, hard, hard process, a tough journey. We started early and for some reason we just couldn’t get to the finish line. That was frustrating, but the communication has been really good with Brandon and his agent, and we’re trying to come up with solutions. You know, I’m always optimistic. I’m an optimistic person by nature, and I’m always optimistic that we’re going to get there and get there soon. I can tell you, we feel the urgency to have him, and the season is coming up, and we have plenty of time.

“The good news is that Brandon is really hardworking, he’s been taking care of himself a lot this season, he’s been in great shape, but there are things you have to do on the football field and get yourself out there with our team. So we’re working hard, and hopefully there’s a solution soon. That’s all I can share with everybody, I understand everybody’s concern, I understand there’s been all sorts of stories and talk, and that’s what people do these days. I don’t like that part of it, but we love BA as a player, I think you see it every time he goes out to represent the Niners, he’s a guy we traded in the first round in the 2020 draft, I remember doing that from my guest house during the COVID times, and we’re fortunate to have him on our team, and we’d really like to keep him. So we’ll see how it goes.”
