Yoyo spring weather continues: A cold front will sweep across Quebec on Sunday and Monday, followed by a rapid rise in temperatures starting Tuesday.
A special weather forecast issued by Environment Canada on Sunday predicts a severe drop in mercury, snow in places and strong winds.
“We're expecting a cold front to pass over Quebec, in the west, at Abitibi, this morning to move eastward and reach Saguenay in the late afternoon, then reach the river by late evening,” explains the Environment Canada meteorologist. Georgina Barradas.
Snow should be avoided in the south of the province, but rain is possible. According to forecasts from the Federal Weather Service, the Montreal area should be completely spared.
In the Quebec area, a weather cocktail with a mix of rain and snow is expected throughout the day and overnight into Monday morning.
Environment Canada warns that as the cold front passes, “snowfall can reduce visibility to almost zero, and temperatures will drop rapidly. Surfaces can become icy and dangerous.”
