Quebecers may have had to celebrate a snowy Christmas, but now this holiday weekend is set for sunny weather with comfortable temperatures.
With temperatures well above seasonal norms, areas with little or no snow will have a green Christmas. However, areas that still have good snow cover may still have a white carpet on Christmas morning despite the melt, said Environment Canada meteorologist Serge Mainville.
Therefore, Environment Canada is not predicting any rain on Saturday, except for the Catino sector, where cloudy weather could bring some rain in the evening, with a risk of even freezing drizzle.
In Montreal, the weather will be characterized by an alternation of sun and clouds, which will stabilize the mercury at minus 3 degrees with temperatures rising above seasonal norms.
Clouds will be thick in the center of the province, as minus 4 degrees in Quebec and minus 6 degrees in Saguenay will be within seasonal norms.
According to the federal agency's forecasts, the same conditions of comfortable weather under clouds are expected in eastern Quebec, where some sectors will have temperatures just below freezing.
On Sunday, the mercury will continue to rise in most parts of the province affected by cloud cover, while clearings are expected in eastern Quebec.
