Weather: The snow is finally coming

The start of the weekend promises to be cooler despite the sunshine, and a slight deterioration in weather conditions is expected from Sunday evening with snow followed by gradual cloud cover.

In southern Quebec, especially in the Montreal, Richelieu Valley and Outaouais areas, Saturday morning will be generally sunny and the afternoon cloudy. During the evening and overnight, light snow is expected with accumulations of 2 to 4 cm. The snowfall is expected to continue into early next week.

Despite the nice weather on Saturday, Environment Canada wants to warn motorists that the cold and small amounts of snow could make roads slippery.

In the center and east of the province, Saturday will be sunny and partly cloudy in the evening. Snow is expected to begin throughout Sunday and continue throughout the week. Meteorological conditions in these regions indicate a downward trend in temperature along with snowfall.

On the Gaspé Peninsula, powder snow and wind chills of -20°C are forecast.

In Saguenay, the start of the weekend promises to be very sunny, but cold due to winter winds, Saturday morning temperature will be -28°C.
