The week begins with tension in our skies as Venus and Uranus push and pull on each other, prompting us to watch for conflict that may be brewing within us as well. As the days go on, the Full Moon in Capricorn provides liberation and renewal.
Venus in Leo Square Uranus in Taurus
Astrology is known for tracking terrestrial reflections of the movement of the sun and planets through the signs of the zodiac and the rotation of the moon through the phases of the moon. One of the lesser-known aspects of astrology is how the planets communicate, collaborate, and create vocations through their positions relative to one another.
We are no strangers to interplanetary relationships. We feel its influence through our monthly transits and experience its influence within our natal charts, and thus within us.
The square aspect occurs when the planets are three signs apart from each other. This creates friction. It’s the kind of tension we can feel as opposing forces, aspects of ourselves, that at first feel like they can’t fit together, as if one is fighting the other. This feeling continues until we choose to move forward and deal with this stress before we finally find it as one of our greatest strengths, motivators, and entrances.
Squares of opportunities. They lead us out of complacency and into change. When we make a decision to be with what is ours, heal what we harbor, and embody the wholeness of ourselves, we encounter opportunities—whether driven from within or arising from external experience—that are driven by that decision.
In astrology, Venus represents what we value. In ourselves, in others, in the people we choose to reserve space in our lives, and in what we value in our environments, whether it be art, food, profession, or beauty. What we value reflects who we are, and the decisions we make based on these values enhance our sense of self and fulfillment. The expression of Venus known as love appears most clearly in our relationships, be it romantic, friendship, business, or otherwise.
Uranus carries a completely different tone. Uranus is the aspect of us that needs freedom. Uranus is change and revolution. It shakes things up and disrupts old beliefs in order to move forward and break down old structures that hold us back.
With Venus in retrograde beginning at the end of July, its meeting with Uranus on July 2 is a crack opening for what we might invite further reflection, reflection, and revision during the retrograde motion soon to meet us.
This square can feel like something is arising within us that is ready to witness it, whether it be feelings we have discarded, desires we have shoved in the shadows, actions we have denied, or values we have put in name. From safety, peace, comfort, or something else. Uranus cuts through the defenses we might put in place and brings that which is front and center.
Full Moon in Capricorn
Full moons are the time of release. The Moon has built itself up to a point of fullness where the only direction is emptying and surrendering. It is a call for closure.
Capricorn, as an archetype, is here to fulfill our greatest potential. He’s here for the trek to the top of our mountain. It is here for who we become throughout our journey to reach the top.
Capricorn builds us. He challenges us. It shapes us. And he teaches us. Capricorn reminds us that no matter what we face, we have the inner resources to keep going, whether we are aware of them or they are hidden and untapped. Sometimes it is not until the moment when an obstacle prevents us from moving forward that these resources push us to dig deep and find them so that we can move forward.
While the Moon sits in Capricorn, the Sun and Mercury sit opposite it in Cancer. A water sign, Cancer is the meaning we find by exploring our emotional waters and the currents of our bodies. It is our inner foundation.
The full moon on July 3 is an invitation to dive deep so you can explore the terrain without it. It is as much an invitation to immerse yourself in your body, explore your feelings, and nourish your heart as it is an attraction to a practical mind, discipline, structure, and long-term desires.
With this sinking in and looking out, we return to the present state of the moon, which is about its abandonment. We allow insights into the depths of our emotions, pair them with long-term desires that we already know are our own, and release anything we hold on to that is blocking our journey. We look inward, we look around, and we begin to release the weight holding us back from climbing our mountain.
I invite you
reflection. I felt the experience. To be with what arises from the depths of your body. Express what you’re feeling in ways that help you understand it, whether it’s movement, art, music, writing, or conversation.
The calling is being present with your experience along with the grace to feel whatever you may be feeling, even when it conflicts with who you think you should be, what you think you should experience, or how you suppose you should live your life.
Uranus wishes to open up the horizons through which you have created your reality. It shows you that there is more, there is different, there is a new way of thinking. But first you have to break the boundaries that you were aware of.
Lean into your Venus and explore what your values are, what your needs are, what desires come from deep within you, and whether they will be fulfilled by you, another person, your environment, or your experience of reality in general.
After that, there is an opportunity to exhale. release. to release. This week’s full moon comes at a beautiful time to launch my body. Shake feelings. Move through your reservation. Declutter your mind. And surrender to your experience without having to fully understand it.
Allow Capricorn to remind you of the path that is yours. The path that makes you want to be the best you can be. The path that makes you want to keep getting up, no matter how many times you may fall. The way that brings out the strength in you that you didn’t realize you had. The path that is yours.
